Since the day, “The Dead Zone” kicked off its first season, it has been my favorite TV show. I just love the way it is and try to remain updated about each and everything concerning the show.
The Dead Zone is an American-Canadian sci-fi suspense series. The show is based on the characters from Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name. The show was formerly made for UPN, but the network later dropped the show and it was taken up instead by USA network. The series was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for its first five seasons. For the sixth season, production moved to Montreal. On June 16th 2002, the show premiered with its first season.
Anthony Michael Hall plays the lead role on the show, portraying the role of Johnny Smith. Small-town teacher Johnny met with an accident that left him comatose for approximately six years. After regaining consciousness, Johnny discovered that he had developed supernatural abilities. He began to have visions of the past and future that were elicited by touching items or people. The doctors linked the visions to some movement in a previously vacant “dead zone” of his brain that was trying to make up for the impaired function of the parts injured in the accident. Johnny also learnt that his fiancée, Sarah, gave birth to his son in the interim subsequent to the accident, and has since married another man.
And then Johnny started utilizing his supernatural ability with the help of Sarah, her husband Walt, and physician Bruce, to solve crime mysteries. However, his efforts to do well are complicated by irregular visions of apocalyptic events brought about following the future choice of congressional candidate Greg Stillson.
The Dead Zone was expected to be renewed for a Seventh Season, however due to low ratings and high production cost, the series was canceled in December 2007, without a proper series finale.
