When Stephen King penned his magnum opus, The Dark Tower, he must have sure felt the need to drop the project; it isn’t incapacity that makes one think, or do things such as these, it’s the sheer bulk of the project one undertakes.

The Dead Zone was one novel that got written in one go, and then was made into a hit TV serial; but to talk about The Dark Tower (the saga is covered in seven tomes) is as burdensome as it is for Ron Howard to continue filming it.

Recently, Ron exclaimed that the shooting for the film adaptation would have commenced in September this year, but now that seems a bit shaky; but he has assured that the project is still on!

It grinds us deep into a pool of confusion! A short while ago we were all ecstatic about the adaptation, and felt it was as much important for the film to happen, as it is for The Dead Zone to be available forever.

We were waiting for the cast and stars to be announced soon, but here we are, left with a chicken roll size of information to feed ourselves with, and ruminate over the possibility of whether the adaptation will ever take place or not.

That’s uncalled for!

But I am happy that Ron has squeezed out the details of the problems that he is facing: budget problems, story development, and other things. Well, such things normally arise with projects as big as The Dark Tower. I am sure the project will soon be back on track!

Carrie was Stephen King’s first published novel, and was made into a blockbuster film by Brian de Palma in 1976. King, who wrote the novel The Dead Zone too, which was made into a television series, isn’t writing the film though!

Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa will write the remake, which shouldn’t be seen as a surprise as the writer had previously written the comic adaptation of King’s The Stand. He is also credited with Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark.

Aguirre-Sacassa has written many plays, and can definitely produce a good script. The film will be made by MGM and Screen Gems in collaboration. The news about the remake is official, although the cast and crew are yet to be finalized.

Carrie was Stephen King’s brilliant work about a girl who has telekinetic powers that would make their presence felt only when the teenager was really upset. The film broke all records, and still holds a distinctive place in the heart of millions of fans of horror genre, just like The Stand does.

The author, whose brain is the inspiration behind The Dead Zone episodes, has made his views public, about the remake of his classic creation.

He thinks that no one would be able to beat Gary Sinise, when it comes to playing Stu Redman. However, he feels that Jake Gyllenhaal would turn out to be an excellent runner-up.

Further, he is of the opinion that the project simply cannot be made into a two hour movie, unless of course, if they were thinking of making a trilogy out of it.

The reason why we are so hell-bent on bringing forth his views, is because he is a legend, whose vision would work wonders, if respected.

The play of Stephen has been taken by some students of the New England School of Communications at Bangor, who are being advised by Frank Welch, who is NESCom video production curriculum coordinator. He has held the right to create the film since 1997.

You must be wondering that if he had the right to adapt the play, then why he decided to do after so may years. Well, it will not be an easy task to convert the remarkable work of The Dead Zone series creator.

Let’s know from Frank that what held him back, “A friend of mine and I tried doing it, but we just couldn’t get it together, fundingwise… Last April or March, I’d been talking to my students, who are very talented, and with the really good digital equipment we have here now, I thought it was a good time to do it.”
